Three-way Attrition

Last week on the 5th of November, Kushail, Da Masta Cheef and I gathered to play a three-way game of Warhammer 40,000 9th edition. I brought my Black Legion Chaos Space Marines,

Cheef brought his Tau,

and Kushail brought an all Dreadnought list of Lions of Harlech.

We decided to use the Open War deck and chose War of Attrition. We randomly drew a Twist card  and got Exhausted, much to Kushail's glee, as it ment all models had their Strength characteristics reduced by -1. We all pulled Ruse cards which we kept secret from each other until they were revealed.

This isn't going to be one of my typical battle reports, but more like a highlight of what happened. Cheef took so many photos that I"m having a difficult time figuring out what's what, or when was what, or why we took a given photo. So, I am going to focus on who eliminated which units. We only counted a unit destroyed when the final model was pulled as a result of shooting, close combat in the fight phase or elimination during the morale phase. Assists did not count for anything other than bragging rights.

The dice eating lava board

The Lions of Harlech won the roll-off to go first, Chaos would go second and Tau would go last.

Looking at home in a Chaos shrine...

According to my notes there were no destroyed units in the first turn. Although I almost wiped out the Tau Hogziliaries, but one sneaky piglet got away!

This little piggy...

The ruckus of turn one.

LIONS OF HARLECH TURN 2

The Hellbrute, despite using the Fire Frenzy Stratagem during the Lion's Shooting Phase and getting some Overwatch shots, failed to withstand the double onslaught of the Ironclad Dreadnoughts and was ripped apart. The Lions scored 220 points.

The pathetic demise of a Hellbrute.

BLACK LEGION TURN 2

"Shoot 'em down boys!"

One of the Lion's Itonclads was destroyed by the Psychic powers of the Sorcerer Lord in Terminator armor.

The Black Legionaires wiped out the Tau Jaloo Auxiliary.

The Black Legion take the lead with 235 points.

Lining up for a strife,

TAU TURN 2

The Tau didn't eliminate any units but they put a considerable hurt on the Black Legion and picked off a few wounds from some of the Lion's Dreadnoughts. Using the Outflank Ruse card, the Piranha and Ramora Drone harassed the Lions of Harlech while a squad of Breachers, Kroot Carnivores and a Kroot Shaper showed up in the Chaos deployment zone. They took a wound or two off of the Chaos Sorcerer.

End of Turn 2 points:

Lions Of Harlech: 190

Chaos Space Marines: 230

Tau: 0

LIONS OF HARLECH TURN 3

I have heard it said somewhere that 40k is a three-turn game in the sense that the winner can usually be determined by end of turn three. Well, Kushail was determined to make that theory a working one. The Chaplain Dreadnought charged my Exalted Champion, and, well, pulped him. This earned him another 90 vps

CHAOS SPACE MARINES TURN 3

The traitor astartes didn't eliminate any units this round but they did hold their own against the Dreadnought onslaught. Both of my psykers put some hurt on the Chaplain Dreadnought using Smites of Infernal Gaze powers to achieve this. Of Particular note was the Aspiring Champion of Legionaires Squad 3 by rolling an against the odds Morale test and keeping the Chaplain tied up a bit longer.

The Vindicator putting the hurt on the Dreads.

TAU TURN 3

No units were taken out by the Tau in this round but they put a lot hurt on my Legionaires squads and tore some armor off of some dreads. But the Kroot did manage to get a charge in on my Chaos Sorcerer. The Chaos Sorcerer took a few wounds from these guys but he killed a lot of them in return. The failed morale check caused a lot more pain on the Kroot but the remaining ones were still in the fight.

LIONS OF HARLECH TURN 4

The first few rounds were just a big wind-up for Kushail and his Lions of Harlech, and on Turn 4 he landed his killing blows. In the Shooting Phase he shot down the Ramora Drone, and picked off the Kroot Shaper. Then he squashed a squad of Chaos Legionaires. He racked up 190 points from all of that and it was looking like he was going to be hard to catch up to.

Out flanked but fully armored.

CHAOS TURN 4

Now trailing the Lions in points I was desperate to get rid of some of these Dreadnoughts. My Legionaire with the Balefire Tome finished off a Contemptor Dreadnought with Infernal Gaze earning 150 points for me. And my Sorcerer used Infernal Gaze to eliminate the Chaplain Dreadnought for 180 points. A moral victory indeed, but one short lived, as the Kroot took him down in the Fight Phase. It was the Tau's first points in the whole game so far, but an impressive 120 points and a crushing blow to my army.

TAU TURN 4.

"Surprise!"

The Kroot, having showed the rest of the Tau how to draw blood, inspired the rest of the Tau to continue to do so. They finished off the rest of my big squad of Legionaires (220 points!) and blasted away the Vindicator (130 points).

LIONS OF HARLECH TURN 5

It was mopping up time as the Lions finished off The Taus Breachers (95), the Hogziliaries (80 points), the Kroot (84 points) and the last of my units, the Legionaires (215 points). The Lions had this one in the bag, it was just a matter of sorting out the details.

CHAOS SPACE MARINES TURN 5

(We're dead Dave, we're all dead.)

TAU TURN 5

The Tau got the final kill of the game by taking out a Contemptor Dreadnought (150 points).

"It's coming right at us!!!"

It was a fun game, even though I was tabled I dished out a fair amount of hurt and we had good fun. So here are the breakdown:

CHAOS SPACE MARINES: 565 Points

TAU: 620 Points

LIONS OF HARLECH: 944 Points.

Victory to the Lions!

The stand off.

There's  a lot little things that occurred in this game but I don't recall where they fit into the play-by-play of the game. Things like, I need to keep a guy a alive and he had to make three 6+ saves, he rolled two 6's, I uses a CP reroll and got the third 6. Etc. It's those little moments that make games like this one especially fun. I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Deathwatch vs. The Lions of Harlech (Battle Report)

Check it out, Kushial and his Lions of Harlech are back. We had a small game last week to ease him back into the far future of endless war. The battle report page is updated with a link to this report and the previous one as well.

Neverness plays 40k 8th edition

I finally got in a game of Warhammer 40,000 8th edition. I fielded my Khorne-themed Chaos force against Kushial's Lions of Harlech Space Marines. We decided to write the report together and you can read about it here on Lions of Harlech.

Enjoy.

"Those bloody Lions!"

A duel to the death.

Battle was engaged at our favorite local game store, Hobbytown USA in Johnson City. It was between my Chaos army led by Kharn, and Kushail's Lions of Harlech. You can read the short story he wrote leading up to it here.  First thing we did was set up a sweet board to play on, since we were the only ones there we had the pick of whatever scenery we wanted, so we decided to create a ruined cityscape to battle over before making any roll-offs.

A warzone to die for.
After we dug out our armies and reviewed our lists with each other, we rolled off and I won the roll to see who would set-up first. The mission was Big Guns Never Tire.

My 1998pt army.

My army was led by Kharn the Betrayer, and my other HQ was a Daemon Prince. My Troops choices were a 10 man squad of Black Legionaries, a 5 man squad of World Eaters, and 12 man unit of Khorne Berserkers. Elites choices were a 5 man squad of Chaos Terminators and a Hellbrute. I took a unit of Chaos Bikers as my FA option. And the Heavy Support was my Land Raider and a Vindicator. Everything but the vehicles had the mark of Khorne.

Right side of my force.t

After this I rolled up my mutations, the result of this rolling should have given me some insight on how wonky my dice were going to behave in this game. Just a bunch of weird stuff it seems. Anyway, with non psykers to contend with, I set-up first.

Chao set up.
Setting up first actually put me a at disadvantage, although I didn't recognize this at the time. The disadvantage being that my set-up was essentially two-pronged with hopes of surging forward and snatching up these objective counters as fast as possible. Kushail's force was considerably larger than mine and thus more flexible in a tactical sense. My units would have to be selective with it's targets while his could choose their targets for the most part. Had he set-up first I think I would have tightened my deployment into a more focused spearhead as I would have been able to see more properly what I was up against.

I must have been overly confident because I didn't take a pic of the Lion's deployment. Here is that army set out prior to deployment though.

A pride gathers.
For more details on the army selection and set-up part of this game, as well as a bit of fluff, check out Kushail's post.

CHAOS TURN ONE

The Lions scouts were started out on an objective deep in a wooded area but getting to them was going to be tough. Furthermore the Mysterious Objective turned out to be the one that allows them to reroll '1's'. I moved my bikes around the wood to try to get closer to the unit of scouts. After a lame shooting phase, I made the mistake of not attempting a charge with my bikers. It's possible that this decision alone could have cost me this flank. It definitely came back to haunt me!
Land Raider kills the Thunderfire Cannon!

Although I failed to get 1st Blood due to the Tech Marine surviving the attack, my Landraider did destroy the Thunderfire Cannon with an impressive las cannon shot. The Tech Marine would have a soulblaze counter on him from this attack for most of the game. My Vindicator fired a shot on a Devestator squad that could have potentially snuffed the whole unit however it scattered so wide that it caught another unit on a hill killing 2 of them and killing another with Soulblaze by Turn's end. My Hellbrute had nothing to shoot at so he ran and reached the objective, revealing it to be a Skyfire Nexus, something that would be handy to have when the flyers appear.

MARINES TURN ONE

The Lions of Harlech immediately retaliate by neatly plopping a pair of Drop Pods right between my 2 tanks. Even worse, they each had an Ironclad Dreadnought leap out and unleash hell on my tanks! Although this attack failed to kill these tanks the attack did result in a loss of HP on both and the inability to fire with both next turn. The LR would be unable to move and as a consequence would be a total sitting duck!

Precision-guided Drop Pods!

The Hellbrute was eliminated by the streams of missiles that slammed into it, giving the Lions the 1st Blood VP.

Hellbrute, blasted back to hell by the Dev. Squad!

Beyond the woods lousy with scouts, there were at least 2 more Tac Squads and an entrenched Dev Squad, all of whom poured on the firepower to my bikers greatly reducing their number.

Shooting up the bikers!
A excellently executed and far more effective 1st turn turn for the Lions.

CHAOS  TURN 2

The Chaos Gods laugh as they denied me any of my Deep Strikers from showing up this turn! Drats.

I confess, the Alpha Strike by the Lions Drop Pods confounded my strategy all to hell and was a bit demoralizing.  Both my vehicles were sitting ducks for those Ironclads and I searched desperately for a way to overcome them. I had a bold idea, and it looked like it just might work...

The charge of Kharn.
I moved up the Khorne Berserkers in an effort to get close enough to charge, and even though a Berserker was dispatched via overwatch, the unit made the charge. Astonishingly, needing only a 6 to glance the Ironclad using Gorechilde, Kharn only managed to remove 2 HPs from the thing. It was the Berserker Aspiring Champion that felled the Ironclad with a well place Meltabomb!

The 1st Ironclad is destroyed.

MARINE TURN 2

The other Drop Pod arrived securing an opjective and disgorging a squad of Sternguard. Compare the pic above to the pic below to see what their massed firepower did to the Berserker unit!

The bikers on the left flank were eliminated by an Assault Squad that leapt forth with furious intent to destroy the Traitor Bikers and were very successful.

The end of Turn 2

CHAOS TURN 3

Arriving from Reserves my Chaos Terminators materialized with the intention of trying to decapitate the Lion's lesdership. They landed in the back field of their deployment zone and killed a number of the Captain's retinue, but not enough to achieve their objective. Also arriving from Reserves was my Daemon Prince whom I placed in the ruins near the only uncontested objective.

Now able to move, and somehow still functioning, the Land Raider surged forward to Tank Shock the Sternguard.  This only resulted in displacing them away from the objective, but that was fine, as I was able to unload my full 10-man Black Legion unit who whittled away a few Sternguard with their attacks.

Attacking the Sternguard.

Meanwhile on the otherside of the field my 5 man Marine Squad entered the woods in persuit of the scouts, whom they would entangle with in both assault and shooting right up unto the end of the game's last round.
Playmates meeting for the 1st time.

Assault phase, and Kharn with his manical posse attacked the remaining Ironclad. Hitting all 7 times, again needing to roll a 6 to glance on 2d6, the dice-gods laughed upon Kharn and he only managed to penetrate it once removing one of it's Dreadnought Close Combat Weapons.

The return attacked killed the rest of the Berserkers including Kharn. This left both Kushial and I wondering how Kharn had lived 10k years without Eternal Warrior, but this Chaos Codex is full of baffling mysteries like this...

My right flank, end of Chaos Turn 3

MARINE TURN 3

The Stormtalon Gunship arrived and shoots down the Daemon Prince, scoring only one wound on him though.

"Who has air superiority?"

Meanwhile the scouts and the Khorne Marines continue their dance of death...

The fight for the Left Flank objectives.

Meanwhile, having abandoned his companions to their inevitable fate at the hands of the Black Legion Terminators, Capt. Glyndwr of the Lions of Harlech dove into the melee on the center of the table in an effort to save his Sternguard companions. After a few combat rounds his effort would prove to be in vain...  at the end of Chaos Turn 4!

"Slicing and dicing l!"

The Chaos Terminators would lose a few of their number to shooting but in the assault phase they would prove to be stout, defeating their aggressors. However the Assault Marine's resolve was true and with a roll of double-1's held firm in the fight!

TURN 4

Running low on models to move, the game is starting pick up. My landraider, having survived more shooting attacks from the Ironclad, made an effort to move away from it. Meanwhile my Daemon Prince landed to try to eliminate the nearby squad that was moving toward the unclaimed objective.

The fight in the middle began to wind down as the Black Legion had killed all of the Sternguard leaving just the Captain left to contend with the Black Legion traitors who would eventually fall to his blade.

The Chaos Terminators defeated the Assault Marines and consolidated towards the Captain's original squad.

TURN 5.

The best thing that happened on my turn was the surviving Terminators killed another marine squad with a combination of shooting and melee, forcing them to break from combat and route off of the board!  However attrition was beginning to take it's toll and I knew that I need to secure some objectives if I were to have any hope of pulling out a win. After winning anothor combat against  the squad of marines,  the Daemon Prince consolidated on the last unclaimed objective. Which was revealed to be  the one that's a booby-trap. Just my luck.

The Lions go and the only thing they accomplish is that the Captain finally eliminated the last of the Black Legion, and he too consolidates onto an objective.

We did a quick tally of VPs: The score is now 10 to 7 (Lions having 2 Objectives, I Heavy Killed, Warlord, Linebreaker, and First Blood to Chaos with 2 Objectives and Linebreaker).  This is a satisfying loss, and I could live with these results. I roll the die and it turns out we're playing a 6th Turn.

The status quo at the ebd of Turn 5

CHAOS TURN 6

With so little options, I think that I should  do my best to try to hold on to these objectives. But then I realize that a win simply won't happen, I figured I might as well just have some fun and go after a tasty target: his Warlord! So the Daemon Prince flys over the ruins that seperates them and charges the Captain. I hit wound him 4 times, and makes 3 of the Iron Halo saves but it's the final cut that manages to kill him due to the attack's Str being double his Toughness.

An epic duel

The rest of my turn proved to be futile, with the Land Raider again failing to penetrate the last Iron Clad. -That bastard has proven to be quite the survivor!

MARINE TURN 6

Killing the Captain sparked a fire of vengeance in the surviving Lions of Harlech who focused of eliminating the remainder of my army.

The Lions killed the remaining Chaos  Terminator with a krak missile. The lone Chaos Marine on the Objective in the woods was blasted away. The Ironclad finally rolled high on the 2D6 for armor penetration with the melta-gun causing the Landraider to explode dramatically.  And to avenge his Captain, the Storm Talon turned for a shot on the Daemon Prince and scored 3 wounds, which I failed to save all of, killing off the Daemon Prince.

Drats: Tabled!
Visualize the Storm Talon 's missiles streaking towards the Daemon Prince below.

The final score was 14 Points to 1 (3 Objectives, 2 Heavies Killed, First Blood, Warlord, and Linebreaker for the Lions and Warlord for Chaos). Funny what a difference a single turn can make!

The Lions claim the field, Chaos has been purged!
Looking back on this game my single biggest mistake was not maximizing the Chaos Bikers potential in the first turn. I wish I had figured out how to keep the Vindicator alive for a few more rounds as I was counting on it to thin out the loyalist horde before me. And the Land Raider's maddening tango with the Ironclad could have been better handled but I am not sure how. In the end Kushial's tactics were solid and executed almost flawlessly, whereas my attempts to counter them were often confounded by my dice! The situation with Kharn clearly illustrates that.

In the end we both had fun and we look forward to playing against each other again.

Chaos Bikers (Part 6)

Distracted by other hobby projects (more on those soon) these Chaos Bikers  took longer than originally projected, but paint still managed to get on them.

Flesh base coated applied on the fleshy bits.

Before I could get much further though, I was called out (publicly) to face down Kushial and his Lions of Harlech. Considering the points we agreed to field, I had no choice but to glue the bikes onto their bases ahead of the stage in which I ideally would have preferred. But when the cubs of the false emperor wander onto one's turf, sometimes drastic measures are called for...

Ready for that base!
...that ment rallying stuff out the paint queue and into the front lines!

Mount up and roll out!

This also ment breaking out some unopened blister packs that have been biding their time for their moment of murderous glory (more on that in a future post too) but they will make their first appearance as a unit in the pending battle report. And in their magnificently unpainted slender. Which is funny as Kushial messaged me to report that he was updating his list to include only painted models.
...I think I should feel bad about that, but I don't... ;)

Anyway, check out the hyperlink in the first paragraph to read a bit of short fiction that Kushial wrote as a preamble to the battle,  and check back here soon for the report as well as the continuing progress on these bikers.

Screech's Last-minute 40K Extravaganza!

Silly Lion, the Murder Sword is a Chaos artifact!
Today was Screech's Last Minute-40K Extravaganza! This event is Screech's last gaming weekend until he returns from Basic Training. Yup, Screech is going to go get his own real-life "Imperial Guardsman Uplifting Primer", standard uniform, a love of mess-hall food, shoe polish kit, and basically live through the fun parts of the old Sgt Benjamin TV show. :)

We started many hours earlier than usual (sorry indoor RC people) at the local Hobbytown, and waged war. I didn't battle Screech but I did get to watch some of his two games, which I'll talk about at the end of this post.

Instead I finally had the privilege to play against Kushial's Lions of Harlech Space Marine Chapter. The last time we hit the table together was as allies with my Space Wolves, but on this day they would be foes of my Ultramarines as they Crusaded against each other over a bunch of Mysterious Objectives!

The Ultramarines army, pre-deployment

The Lions of Harlech, pre-deployment.
Kushial uses the Imperial Fist Combat Tactics, as I guess the Lions are an Imperial Fist successor Chapter according to his home-brewed background (which, if this is written somewhere I would like to read it and link up for share with anyone reading this blog).
Ultramarine deployment
TURN ONE
The Ultramarines deploy first, taking advantage of any cover I could just in case the Lions stole the initiative . In particular I claimed the dilapidated bastion in the center of my Deployement Zone by placing a Devestator Squad on top of it.
The Lions of Harlech deployment
The Lions did like-wise, not anticipating stealing the initiative. They were wise to do so, as the Ultramarines would indeed go first!
1st turn maneuvers
The 1st turn was largely uneventful, I managed to kill a singe marine with a lucky hit and put a glancing hit on the Harlech Predator. This would begin an annoying series of events where I would hit with every heavy weapon I had but only roll a 1 for both damage and armor penetration! This strange luck will last much of the game! On the Lions first turn he didn't fair much better but he did get a glancing hit on both my Whirlwind and Venerable Dreadnought with his two Attack Bikes!  Also he a Drop Pod descend and unload an angry Iron Clad Dreadnought which made a path straight to the dilapidated bastion!

TURN 2
The Tac Marines attempt to stop the Iron Clad!
I declared the Tactical Doctrine for this round. Yes, those Combat Doctrines tokens I made sure proved to be a good idea! I managed to go the whole game without forgetting them! This squad was able to take two Hull Points off of the Iron Clad Dreadnought thanks in part to this doctrine. Also in the enemy deployment zone I unloaded the Sternguard who unleashed a fury of Hellfire blasts intothe Lion Tactical squad killing about a quarter of them. My other tactical squad claimed a bunker which would allow them to also secure an objective. My Venerable Dreadnought would jump out to stare-down the enemy Attack Bike, putting a wound on it but failing to charge it!

The field after the end of Ultramarine Turn 2
Kushials 2nd turn was more fruitful as well, as his dread pulverized the bastion, killing all but one of the devastators on top of it!

"Whoa! Dude, where's my bastion?"
You'll also note in the background that the Sternquard are no longer in front of the Ultramarine Land Raider, they took enough losses to force a route test which they failed, causing them to run behind the Land Raider!

One of the Attack Bikes would attempt to gun for the Venerable Dreadnought's rear armor, only to fail to hit it! Meanwhile the Landraider would come storming at the Dread with guns blazing!
"We have you now!....ok. maybe not..."
TURN 3

I started off by declaring the Assault Doctrine.

Next, I decide to do something nuts, mainly because I just wanted to see it happen and shooting the damned thing just wasn't killing it, so I attempted to ram the Predator, full steam ahead a full 12"! And, as is typically the case, even with an effective Strength 8 hit, I rolled a pen roll of 12, missing the front armor by a point! Still, it looked cool and it was fun forcing his warlord (who detached from the unit) and his tac squad to move out of it's way!
"CLANG!" (waiting for the Arbites to show up to take down the accident report was quite awkward)
My Terminators, along with the Librarian, showed up, managing to take another hull point from the Predator!
For the record, they scattered there!
The Tactical Combat Squad in the woods killed the other attack bike! By the way, in case you hadn't noticed, this would finally be First Blood for this game!

First blood, and the squad that caused it!
I would declare three assaults this round, the first being the V. Dread against the other Attack Bike, which was a very quick kill, as the dread tore apart the Attack bike with ease!  The other charge was against the Iron Clad dread, which proved to be both fruitless and crazy, as I lost the assault, but the Vet. Sgt, and his remaining charge rolled double "1's" on their route test. Insane courage indeed!
"We will kill you!!!"
My Sternguard would themncharge the Lion's Warlord, only to lose two guys, route, and wait for the Warlord to next charge them!
Notice how his sword hads'nurgle-esque' vibe about it?
Which of course he did on Kushials next turn, killing two more Sternguard, however they did manage to finally get a shot through that accursed artificer armor on a snapfire! This time the Sternguard would not run.

Wishing that they had ran away, the two tac marines fighting the Iron Clad are pulled apart like a pork sandwich being eaten by a 2 year old! It was sick!
"Where was I, Oh, yeah, I was going to kill YOU!"
Kushial sent forth his Sternguard from his Land Raider and they cut down most of the Tactical Squad in the woods, but I had two survivors left from that onslaught!

TURN 4

Combat was finally committed! And the death toll was starting to rise! I, for the hope of my lonely Devastator, would declare the Devastator Doctrine!

The Land Raider would finally destroy the Predator in a massive explosion!

Death to the Predator
The Machine Spirit would guide the Heavy Bolters to attack the Devastator Squad in the ruins killing two of them, and my Terminator Squad would move up and finish off the Squad! All-in-all, that was in incredibly successful combination, one that I my dice will rarely ever allow me to pull off!

Death to the Devastators! (and the failed armor saves that caused it!
The Venerable Dread would charge the Lion's Sternguard, killing a bunch, but they refused to route!

On the Lion's turn, the Lions' Tactical Squad that you can see in the cratered woods, had been taking hits from the Whirlwind for most of the game, and were even pinned on turn three! Now the spot the Terminators and decided to attack them, and they manage to kill one!

Now the Iron Clad is just thirsting for my Devastator's blood, and he charges! I snapfire and hit, only to miss the necessary glancing hit result that would've felled this massive murder-machine!

Yeah, this guy died.
 TURN 5

The Terminators shoot up, charge, and wipe-out the  tactical squad in the woods. Apparently that was only event worth documenting in that round for my turn anyway, although my land raider would re position to get a better line of fire on the tactical squad that was watching Lion's Captain dispatch the rest of my Sternguard.

"Look boss, another fight to join!"
On Kushial's turn, the Iron Clad moved toward the bunker which housed my remaining Tactical Combat Squad who was holding in objective. The Land Raider was barreling down my my Whirlwind, and picking off the remaining Tactical Squad in the woods, in fact, there just one guy left (the missile launcher trooper!),

Finally on his assault Phase, the Lions took down the Venerable Dread!

"Haha! Look, he's fallen and can't get up!" -Last words of the traitorous Lion's of Harlech Sternguard
Kushial rolled the dice to see if the game ended. It was VERY close at this point, as attrition was wearing us down on both sides. The dice spoke, and the game would go on!

TURN 6

Finally standing still, the Lander Raider annihilates the Warlord and the Tactical Squad! The Objective is now free!
Imagine lots of red vapor all around that objective marker
The Librarian and the surviving Terminators would kill off the rest of the Sternguard, consolidating toward the Lion's Land Raider...
"What do you say lads, think we can take out that Land Raider?"

On Kushial's turn, the Iron Clad, in a desperate move to deny me the objective at the bunker, charges it and destroys it, killing everyone inside but the Veteran Sgt! (Just a side note: this is a bunker made from the template found in the Warhammer 40,000 4th edition hardcover)
Iron Clad doing what an Iron Clad was made to do! Destroying buildings! And loving it!!!

The Land Raider finally wrecks the Whirlwind, while the sole survivor of the Tac squad dives and ducks within the cover of the trees!

And the game ends!
Ultramarines 6vps (First Blood, Warlord, Linebreaker, and Objective)
Lions of Harlech 1vp. (Linebreaker)
My MVP unit: First Blood and the Objective, earning 4 points!
It was a fun game, like most fun games, it wasn't obvious who was going to win until the final round as it was very close. Kushial and I had very few models left, and he only had three vehicles left (Land Raider, a Drop Pod, and the Iron Clad). Another round, and It's not likely that either of my lone Tac Marines would've survived!

Over on the other tables:

Screech vs. Murl

Screech, proving the internet wrong by winning against Murl's hard-to-beat Nurgle army! It was a fun game to watch the end of.

Nurgle vs. Tryanids
A big battle broke on the table that Kushial and I played our game on! Indeed, they hardly moved the scenery much! Scott, Skylar, The Bob, and Hiveangel were having a two-on-two battle royale! You can read the battle report here.

Deployment of the big battle!
Blood Angels opening shots!
Some of the new players (sorry i don't recall your names!) had a Dark Angel vs. a Dark Eldar/Eldar force. I believe the Eldar won.
The hunters hunted!

And finally, just as I was leaving, the 2nd turn was starting on a game between Screech's 'Nids and the Tau and Inqusition force of Amy and the Da Masta Cheef, which hopefully he'll discuss on his blog this week.

C'mon! Space Truck'n!

It was good day at Hobbytown, with a good turn out and a lot of games being played! I hope this was a good send off for you Screech, I know we'll await your return!

I'm curious to know the results of all of the other games, so if the other players could leave those results in the comments, for posterity sake, that would be grand!
