The first of my March For Macrage challenges is done.
Another Primaris Lieutenant! Can I ever have enough? Does any modern Space Marine player have a enough? Well, I like this guy for his stance and his unique loadout. But it took me awhile to get motivated to work on him. This next pic was taken way back in December.

Note that you'll see that I have his shield arm removed for most of these steps as it was just easier to work on the model with it separated. One of the benefits of pushfit models is the ability to do this sort of thing.

This particular stage is a new mixture I tried out as suggested within Imperium Magazine. The brassy areas were first painted using Retributor Gold.

Next these areas were all given a rather liberal wash of Reikland Fleshwash.

Finally, a highlight of
Stormhost Silver, which is my modern analog for my old, but still reliable and still superior,
Mitheril Silver. I liked this result and I think I'm going to adapt for the the rest of these Ultramarines.

After a few touch-ups he was mostly done.
The decals were done using the '
ard Coat method which I think I'm starting to get good at.
Probably the most challenging aspect of this miniature was the painting of the Lieutenant strip on the helmet. It took me a while to get it to a point where I was satisfied with it.
The green glow on the neo-volkite pistol was done using layers of
Tesseract Glow and
White Scar on the raised bands. Or a white dot in the middle for the front of the gun barrel.
Two variations of grass tufts were used to finish off the model. Tufts are so much more appealing to me on how they turn out and with their ease of application. I doubt I'll ever go back to static grass and definitely not traditional flock.
As I was taking these pics I had the last second idea to paint the necron skull with glowing eyes. So I colored them in using a dot of
Moot Green. Either this guy was just recently beheaded amd he's still shutting down,, or he activated as the Lieutenant stepped over him. Perhaps he's alerting the other Necrons to the Lieutenant's presence?
Well that's a wrap for this chap, keep checking back during March to see how many more Ultramarines I can get knocked out during March For Macrage!

He could have a crimson fist. Or perhaps a Lamenter.
But I wanted him to be good.
That's cool, I like the whole composition and how anrgy he looks 'hey, dude, you better stand back!' Pretty cool job!
Great results; congrats!
